Interesting morning.

I would like to give one piece of advice to every person that drives and reads this blog. ALWAYS HAVE AN EXTRA SET OF KEYS!
This morning at 7:54 I set off for a wonderful day of work. I had my favorite Chicago Cubs coffee mug full of piping hot Classic Cup blend coffee, my freshly ironed shirt, and it was beautiful out, probably 74. I am ready to walk out the door and realize that my keys are nowhere to be found. I remember having them yesterday and think they are in my fiancee's car. I grab the "extra" key for my car thinking I'll just go pick them up from her car, come back home, lock up, and try this all again. Sounded good, not ideal, but good. I go down to my car and with my "extra" key, unlock the door. I realize that I have locked my car the evening before with my key fob and activated the security system. So as my car is yelling loudly at everyone and waking up every dog for a county mile, I go into panic/MacGyver mode. I try to unlock the door again to see if some sequence of locking/unlocking will deactivate the alarm. No dice. I try the ignition. Nothing. I shut the door and think for a minute. I can't go back up to my apartment because I'm keyless. I can't drive anywhere because my car is on lockdown. I call the Subaru dealership and find that if you turn the key 3 times in the ignition it will deactivate the alarm. Works perfectly. I get in my car and set off to get my actual set of keys. After retrieving them I realize the gas light is on. I stop at the gas station and pay $31 for 12 gallons of gas. I have one of the "I remember when" moments about gas prices and then shuffle home quickly. I get home lock-up and set off for my day of work. So lessson to be learned here, have a full set of keys at home, a "mirror" set if you will.

This is a fun link.

Luke's Product Endorsement Post

After I turned 18 years old I got a Gillette Mach 3 razor in the mail...from the US Army. I guess it was better than being drafted and turned out be a pleasant gift. It didn't make me want to run down to local headquarters and enlist with the guard but it did revolutionize my daily life. Seven years have passed and razors have come and gone. I experimented with electric razors only to be dissapointed. If I had to clean the innards I would need a manual or number puzzle to put all the blades back in the head of the razor so it didn't rattle. After my trials and tribulations with electric-razor syndrome, I opted for the Mach 3 Turbo Power. In about 3 weeks the "power" turned into a rusty battery horribleness and it meant I needed to spend $37 on 3 more cartridges. Finally, eureka. The Gillette Fusion. 4 blades for my daily looming facial hair, one blade for my ever-present sideburns and voila! An answer all men are looking for.

C.O. Bigelow offers a phenomenal shaving cream. This beats the $9 Nivia stuff that dissapears in 3 days. This nice looking green package will last you months. It costs $10 and can be purchased at most Bath and Body works. For most of you males that aren't familiar with Bath and Body works, it is the store in the mall that the employee will lure you in with some scented lotion and/or the place you use as a last resort for Christmas presents. This shaving cream paired with the razor mentioned above will leave your face feeling like a really clean shaven face.

So now I'm sure you'll sleep a little better knowing my tri-weekly ritually of shaving my face is a pleasure. So thank you Target for all of the razor options but from now on I'm sticking with the Fusion, and Thank You Mr. Bigelow for producing such a fine concoction of shaving goodness.

Music!

Here are 7 bands/groups/artists that everyone should try listening to at least once:

1) The Fratellis - Jam, little indie rock. Shake it.

2) Rodrigo y Gabriela - Where guitar meets perfection meets your wine party.

3) Paolo Nutini - Just listen to this cat, you'll know.

4) Calvin Harris - Best album this year, so far. Born in the eighties.
http://www.sonybmgmusic.co.uk/artist_spotlight/calvin_harris

5) Mika - Mr. Mercury-Scissor sister-hip-trendy-beautifulness.

6) The Soulsavers - Deep, deep tunes.

7) Amy Winehouse - Amy is a dirty Norah Jones.

I have wiped Bob Seger(not really) and Gordon Lightfoot off my iPod and now have a new influence. Throw in the new Bloc Party, every Dean Martin song ever made, Gnarls, Steve Miller and all 7 artists up above and you've got my iPod.

Siempre!

Walter Peyton is the Manning!

On the coldest night in 3 years in Indy, the Colts decide to win the Super Bowl the night before and parade around town the next day. So before McCormick's I got these.....

My Scarf : $30

My Coat: $100

Camera(Mine): $300

Camera(Tony Dungy): $600

Tony Dungy having a video of ME taking a picture of him next to the owner holding the Super Bowl XLI trophy!: Priceless!

It's a Colt float. Say that 5 times fast.

Peyton throws out the 'Thumbs Up, Luke! We did it!'

Ah Marvin, you're so crazy.

Colts on the back of the bus!
So even though I'm more of a Bears fan, this was a fun time and Colts fans are crazy. But I must note.....they are wimps. They all whine about the cold. Come on...it was 3 degrees......

Rock the casbah......

Best Sunday ever, IBEX Rock Climbing Facility. Belay, belay on, climing, climb on, tension, tension on. Woo hoo.

Here we are belaying and climbing.......in this picture I am 1700 feet off the ground but the angles make it seem lower.

Jose Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis was the place to be on Monday night. Bulls/Pacers was like any rivalry I've ever seen. Actually it was just a fun basketball game and very informative because I sat by the oldest longest Pacers fan ever. I know everything about every Pacer ever. I enjoy the fact the pom squad was called the Pacemates. Love it.

Jump ball.......goes to the Pacers. Luol Deng = The man.

Indy 500

I'm in Indy for the first time in my life. It is a great city. Everything is within walking distance; malls, monuments, restaurants, crosswalks, stadiums, Qdoba, hotels, bars, discos, YMCA's, roller skating rinks, theatres, theaters, parking garages. All of it.
I would already like to thank McCormick and Schmick's for having a $2 menu. God bless you.
Here is the man that made Indianapolis famous. Reggie Miller. This is the main method of travel around Indianapolis. It is cost and time efficient, as long as your friend is stable and strong.

Here are some people right by a monument that is near my hotel. Don't they look happy.

Go Colts.

2007, Welcome!

Welcome friends, amigos, chicos, hombres, homies, buddies and Mom.
3 things you need to know about 2007.

1) My resolution is to do a triathlon.

2)The fist pound is gone (see below), if anyone offers the fist pound, tell them, "No" Now you are saying to yourself, "Luke, what should we do instead of the fist pound?" Well mis amigos, it's time to bring back the double low-five.

Not this.

Kind of like this.

Too low.

Basically one person puts their hands out palms up, the other person then gives them two (2) fives, one with each hand, simultaneously.....meeting the palm up person with their palms. This should result in a clapping sound, after slapping hands, reverse both sets of hands, then repeat. Once. Only repeat once. After this you will have an urge to say something like, Yeah or Awesome. Resist any urge to do anything else, you may want to chest bump or do more fiving, just stop. Feel good about it. Enjoy the year. Be thankful.

3) This is the year of the

Here are some final thoughts on 2006.....

Madison Square Jardin, Home of the Knicks.

Wayne Rooney was at the Knicks game. Rooney, you're so crazy!

Spike Lee, don't see him....look for the Nike's. This is my Spike Lee Joint. Ha.

Luke navigating at the Garden.

On a closing note and with all due respect......
When famous people die our country lowers the flag to half-mast/staff out of respect or mourning. We recently lost our 38th and 40th President, Mr. Gerald Ford. We then lowered the flags and remembered. We had many TV events that my Grandma watched intently, but than again, she watches Wheel of Fortune like someone is about to be killed. A real nail biter. My point being, we lost another very important figure in society. He wasn't President, he was much more than that. He was the Godfather of Soul, the Hardest Working Man in Show Bidness. Mr. James Brown. Hit me. Dunt. Dunt. Hit me. Wooo.

I got to see James Brown perform once at Summerfest and he put on the show of a lifetime. I remember it so vividly, there was an up and coming musician playing with Ben Harper that we were there to see, Mr. Jack Johnson. But what drew me to the festival, was the Godfather. As it got darker and darker and the anticipation for JB to come on stage, the weather took a turn for the worse. It started to pour. But that wasn't about to stop anyone. As the rain came down and the beer kept getting better......it was showtime. And just like that......he was on stage. I've seen many shows in my day, but James Brown took the stage like an animal. He could do this crazy stuff with his feet and sing and get soaked and run the risk of pneumonia and certain death if lighting struck all at the same time. So here's to your Mr. James Brown, I will play your music and try to dance like you, I may even have hair like you some day.

Thank you 2006 for all the memories. But most of all, thanks to this man.

You were the best dancer/dresser ever. And your hair was so money.

If anyone ever needs 7 minutes of elation, just listen to The Payback by the Godfather himself.

And we're back!!!!!!!!!!!

Here I am in NYC at the 2006 Lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. It was a true holiday celebration with a lot of live music (Enya, Sting, Hall and Oates, Sarah McLachlan, Hall and Oates, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, and Lionel Richie) Then after patiently waiting and manuevring through 1,000,000 people I got to see the tree lit!

See my video of the tree being lit, with a little singing from me at the end

Johnny Legend on the big screen.
This is my best Gotham City shot.
On the set of Will Smith's new movie......I am legend. It looked like fun. There were extras and best boys and lights and rigs and trucks and all of that movie stuff.

Movie set stuff. It was supposed to look all old and bombed out. Looked like a movie set to me.

Extras from the Will Smith movie.

This is the Madden Challenge 2007 in Times Square.
One regular game on Xbox 360 for $100,000.
Madden challengers, the guy on the right won $100,000.
